The Quilted Butterfly is delighted to present Quilter's Beach Party 2008-"Needle in Hand by the Edge of the Sand", our annual celebration of traditional hand needle arts featuring noted quilt teacher, author, and designer Pepper Cory. For this year's event, Pepper and Patti have selected an oriental theme and have designed more new projects for you to make! As always, cost of Quilter's Beach Party includes all class sessions (with ample time to work on each segment) and all supplies/materials necessary to complete the project, special events, lunch, snacks and all but one evening meal (Saturday night) for only $335! When: March 27 (evening only) through noon on March 30, 2007.

Where: We have again reserved "Boat House", a luxury 5-bedroom waterfront mansion in Emerald Isle for Quilter's Beach Party. If you would like to sleep there during the retreat, space is available on a first-come, first-served basis at the following rate: $150 double occupancy (that's only $50 a night!), $300 single occupancy (only $100 per night!). Breakfast is also provided for those spending the night.

Supply List: NONE (that's right, NONE!). This retreat is done entirely by hand, so there's no lugging your sewing machine! AND, for this retreat we also provide ALL fabrics and supplies for each class using only first-quality quilting cottons and name-brand notions. (Note: if you have a thimble, quilting hoop, scissors or other basic hand sewing tools that you like and you want to use them during the retreat, you are certainly welcome to bring them). Although there's no supply list, you may want to bring your beach shoes for walking beside the ocean and a bathing suit for the pool/hot tub!

Description:

Thursday evening starts with our traditional pizza party and ice cream social from 6:30-7:30pm. At 7:30pm we will have Show & Tell/Drag & Brag (bring whatever you'd like to share, especially from last year's Beach Party!). Then Pepper and Patti will review last year's project and quilters basics for those of you who could use a bit of a refresher. After that, for those of you who want to stay up a bit longer, we'll enjoy popcorn and a quilt-related movie (which turns into the pajama party for those of you sleeping over!)

Friday begins with an optional 8:00 am beach walk led by Pepper Cory after which there are two teaching sessions: Heliograph printing and Clamshell applique. We provide your morning snacks, lunch and afternoon treats. On Friday evening, Quilters Beach Party participants enjoy a catered dinner and exclusive 25% off shopping spree at The Quilted Butterfly-shop 'til you drop!

Saturday we'll also have two teaching sessions: Origami (a fancy name for folded 3-D) patchwork and the ancient form of hand quilting known as Sashiko. Again, we provide you morning snacks, lunch and afternoon treats. Saturday evening you get to choose your own dining experience from an assortment of excellent local eateries.

Sunday is our last session, with a special guest instructor who will show you the fine art of temari.

Special Events:

A door prize drawing will be held during each class session.

We again plan to have a licensed massage therapist available to pamper your tired muscles!

Cancellation Policy:
For written cancellation requests received before January 1, 2008, we will refund your registration fee in full minus a $25 cancellation fee. For written cancellation requests received after January 1, 2008, we will refund half of your registration fee. No refunds will be provided for written cancellation requests received after February 1, 2008. All cancellation requests must be made in writing to The Quilted Butterfly, P.O.
